Need to know what this is.
Thanks

Not sure…

Possibly an American AA prototype

Some sort of APC maybe

It looks like an M113 with some ACAV gun shields on it.

m113 has 6 road wheels. This one has 5.

a member of the m113 family is the m106 heavy mortar carrier. Could be a variant of it…

Mike

He’s right, it is the M113 ACAV (armored cavalry vehicle). Tamiya does one, just got one in the mail for $10. Kit #35135.

Thanks everyone, guess I know what my next project will be…
Robert

Learn something new every day, thanks.

Mike

I’m staring at my M113 ACAV kit and it has 5 road wheels per side, same as my Academy M113A2 kit and the same number as the actual M113A2, M113A3, M1064, M901 ITV vehicles I have at work.

BTW, M106 doesn’t have external fuel tanks. The vehicle pictured above is either the M1064 120mm mortar carrier (M113A2 based) or the M1064A3 (M113A3 based).

Yeah, Rob, thanks I know.[:I]

I was looking at the ambulance.

Renarts,
The standard M113 - M113A3 family of vehicles has 5 road wheels. The vehicle you are talking about above is the new M113A4 MTVL. It is stretched 3 feet and has one extra road wheel. The US Army is not buying this version, but Canada is buying a bunch as well as some other countries. Check here for more info on all sorts of varients of the M113A4.

Copy and paste it into your browser address bar and enter. It will not link directly due to a wierd address. Click on MTVL links.

That did look familar. There was a feature of one in the Finescale Vietnam issue, April 03. It was very detailed. He even made a Tabasco sauce bottle for it. Here is a link to the article
