Hey guys, maybe this is just my lack of sleep happening here, but i was just wondering. Are there any popular planes that you absolutely hate?
Mine’s gotta be the P-40. There’s just something about that plane that I really don’t like. Not to say I don’t know a good p-40 when I see it (swanny), but i can safely say that i dont ever think i’ll build one.

I don’t really hate any planes, but I do feel that some are over-modeled and I personally get sick of seeing them over and over and over again. These would especially include the P-51 and the BF-109.
Nice planes, but severely over-modeled.
Truth be told though, if the modeler is happy building those kits, then it doesn’t really matter what I think! [8D]

The P40! Man, I can’t believe! The Flying Tigers! I must have built a dozen of the old Monogram 1/72 kits as a kid in grade school. It’s not the prettiest, the fastest or the most maneuverable but a classic! Maybe it’s “Dad” the P-36 Hawk, but not the P-40! I guess I have to defend it since our Gunships in Nam carried the famous Flying Tiger Teeth into combat with the “Tigers” blessings.

Thats an easy question: The L-39 Albatross. I started to write a long rant here, but decided to keep it simple and non political. Simply: there are to many flying around in USAF and USN markings which obviously is not historically accurate. I’ll just leave it at that

I agree. I just got 3 P-51 kits ( Mustang Mk.1, Cannon P-51, P-51D), but only because I wanted to have a complete collection and they were cheap. As for the -109, I just don’t like it. some might say it looks good, but I think it’t pretty dang ugly.
I don’t hate any airplane. Maybe the one that was shootin’ at me, but otherwise like em all. There are a few good versions of P-40’s made by some model manufactures out there. Your statement reminds me of one a sportswriter made back when Nolan Ryan was a rookie. “The kids’ fastball just dosen’t have enough movement on it, and I know a fastball when I see one”. [8D]
The Dornier ‘Anteater’ (the 217 I think it is). Don’t know what the designer had for brekky the day he came up with that, but geez what a mess.

Planes I hate?
I don’t think there are any.
Mr. Bernoulli gave us all a very interesting theory as to WHY these mechanical marvels manage to “slip the surly bonds of Earth”…with apologies to John Gillespie Magee Jr…and pretty much anything that uses this principle to full advantage deserves attention.
There are certainly particular airframes and series of aircraft that I find mesmerising and highly intoxicating…others I find interesting, but unremarkable.
There are a number of aircraft that are pretty offensive to the eye…that Lysander with a Lancaster type tail and a rear turret, any number of Soviet commuter aircraft and Ekranoplanes (VERY ugly, but very interesting all the same)…a number of WWII Italian bombers…very scary.
Just my two cents worth.
“Hate,” I think, is, largely, too strong a word. I’ve become slightly indifferent to modern paraffin-burners, since they they all seem to merge into each other. I suspect the Lebanese hate Israeli planes, just as the Israelis hated Syrian, and Egyptian, MiGs. My mother hated German aircraft; my grandmother hated Zeppelins. German civilians hated the Lancasters, and B-17s, German tank crews hated the Typhoons. Living in peace means that I can, if I wish, be interested, or disinterested, quite a luxury.

Mirage 2000 and P-47 Thunderbolt - what do people love about that thing I hate it. As for the Mirage I just don’t like.

Don’t know that I hate any. I’ve never been interested in modeling modern jets, but mainly because I just find the history of the WW II era aircraft more fascinating.
Back when I was modeling as a kid (70’s and early 80’s), during the Cold War years, I refused to build ANYTHING Soviet. I didn’t even like things painted red. I had a friend who was all into Soviet jets and armor and I thought it was the most traitorous thing in the world.
Times have changed. I have a Yak-1 in my stash now.
Anything French. They designed some of the ugliest aircraft.
I agree, “hate” is a strong word. The Mirage 2000Ds and Super Etendard looked pretty good to me when they were flying close air support in OEF.

Any American plane with Japanese ( F-4 Phantom) or German (104 starfighter) markings. They are two of my favorite jets but only with American markings. No offence please to the Japanese or German modelers.

I think some guys are refering to models they hate, but I believe Radmax wants to know what actual aircraft they hate. As for me…(in the real cat.) I hate any plane on my six. As for models…the Tamiya A10…what a stinker.

Mine is the NA P-51 Mustang. I,m tired of hearing how it Won WWII single handedly. The McD F-4 comes a close second, though it does look a little better.I do find the Ch-54 , a fine looking lady ! Hubba hubba [:P] .
