planes we dont like

For me it’s the MiG-15, MiG-17, and MiG-19s. Don’t get me wrong, I love the MiG lines (e.i. MiG-25, MiG-31, and MiG-29), just not those three[:D]!

It’s very difficult sometimes. But I am not willing to build tanks or most modern US-planes like X-32. They have an outer line, but no interesting details. But, I like planes like Tiltrotor Bell XV-15 or Bell 609. Or seaplanes. Or the good old planes like Mr. Mulligan or Stinson Reliant. Planes with character. I never did bloody german WWII-planes. Except seaplanes. I prefer sometimes planes who are ugly, but with character. Or interesting for me, from their design. But no old Mig’s.

Wow, such vitrol directed at some really cool planes!

ANyway, generally speaking, I don’t get excited at all about WWII German subjects, although I think the ME-108 is pretty cool.

Regards,

Well, I’m not a big fan of jets, excepting some of the earlier ones. The A-10 isn’t too bad either. I rarely get excited by civilian planes, though I do like those of the 30’s and 40’s vintage. WWI planes I can take or leave, though they do have a quaint quality about them that I like. In fact, my first model is going to be a Pfalz D.IIIa, but since I’m inexperienced, I chose it more for simplicity’s sake, rather than any particular liking for the plane. I figure once I get started I’ll grow to either love it or hate it [:D]. My primary interests are in military planes ranging from the early 30’s through the early 50’s, with WWII as my primary focus. I agree that some planes such as the 109, Mustang, and Spitfire do seem at times to be overdone, but it’s hard to deny their appeal. Japanese aviation in WWII has never really interested me though…

My 2cents,
Anything French (after ww1). Their prewar(2) aircraft were worthless compared to their competition. The post war ac were generaly Ugly, useless and/or redundant.
Granted th Mirage and its predessors were effective but they could have spent their
francs better by working with the Brits and others sooner like they are now w/Airbus
I won’t fly anything made by Airbus as long as there is a Boeing/McAir product flying.
I’m probably being overly critical of them but I still hold against them their actions
in the Gulf, Plus the names of the a/c Leduck, Deguilloteen and the Block sheeshh…
Good Hunting,
G.W.

after my horrendous attempt at R/M’s F-15C, I don’t think I will pick up another F-15 kit from any company bacause of the horrendous first impression…

I am pretty turned off by the British WW II bombers, except for the Lancaster. I probably would never build a model of any of them. I don’t mean to P- - - off our Brit friends, just my preferences on planes.

Mmmm…for me its civil airliners, they just have no appeal to me.

Unless asked, I will likely not build anything out of scope for my subject matter area of USAAF/USN WWII planes. Planes that had prototypes built before the end of the war will work. Gotta get a few jets in there. Grim times, but such a great era of technological advancement for one industry.

My least favs would have to be the twin seat versions of the A-10 and the AV-8B. I am a huge ‘Hog’ fan, but "ugh’ in the twin seat version, just makes my skin crawl.

F4 Phantom, OV-10 Bronco, F-117, A6 Intruder, F-14 Tomcat, F-15 Eagle, F3H-Demon, P-40, F4U Corsair, and… and… the dreaded B-17.

Hasegawa’s A-6E Intruder and the EA-6B Prowler , I hate trying to join those canopy halves together .

The Dragonfly is ugly as heck. never was a F-86 Sabre fan either or any jet fighter with the intakes in the nose…
maybe this is sacreligous, but i never liked the BF-109s. the FW 190 is so much sleeker and graceful looking, not to mention the Ta-152!

Abramii ?

Abramses?

'two’brams?

I doubt there’s actually a model of this, but I think one of the ugliest aircraft I’ve seen is this one:

Westland Lysander K6127 fitted with a Perseus engine and Delanne tail modification

More info on this experimental plane at http://www.unrealaircraft.com/hybrid/lysander.php

Yeah, that is one of the uglier birds I’ve seen. It looks like the horizontal stabs would hit the ground on landing.

Actually that Westland Lysander K6127 looks so stupid that it would almost be hoot to build. With respect to fans of English aircraft, I find most of there WWII stuff to be ungainly and unattractive. It’s almost as though they spent their allotment of aesthetic beauty and elegance on the Spitfire, which is perhaps the most elegant looking single seater to take to the air.

For me it is civil aircraft the only one I have a soft spot for is the Ford TriMotor have one waiting to be built.

Any of the Russian WWII aircraft. Yikes! I just can’t get into those planes. Even the popular IL2 Sturmovik gets me cringing.

All the newer “cookie cutter” jets. You know, they’re all pretty much laid out the same- couple jets on the back, pointy radome on the front, bubble canopy somewhere in between- to me there’s little differentiation (spelling?) between all of them. WWI biplanes are alright, but once again, little difference between them.

WWII aircraft are the best of both worlds- great variety, some really oddball subjects, and some real powerhouses. I like aircraft where you can tell what they do just by looking at them. A bunch of visible machine guns are a real plus, too.
