Hi all, if I can muster up the energy I’m off to the planes of fame tomorrow and would visit Friday morning I just got back from a week trip to New York and I’m questioning the timing. I have a question for Orange County members, is there a Hobby Shop in the area worth a visit? We will be staying in Buena Park area. Thanks.
There are three great hobby shops not too far from Buena Park. The closest is Brookhurst Hobbies in Garden Grove. They also branch out in to gamer and airsoft stuff. It is also the largest of the three. Next Military Hobbies in Orange, another great shop, and I think has better help. Lastly is the Military Shop in Long Beach. It is the smallest of the three and only open on weekends. All three I highly recommend. Have fun at the museum!
Stikpusher, thanks mate! I’ll look those up.
He is correct, but Military hobbies has pretty limited hours and days of operation,
Wednesday - Saturday: | 10:30 am until 6:00 pm PDT |
---|---|
Sunday: | 12:00 pm until 5:00 pm PDT |
Monday - Tuesday: | closed |
I think they are actually open until 7 on Thursday, here’s their info:
- 138 E. Taft Ave
Orange, CA 92865 - (714) 637-1211
- (fax) (714) 974-8647
Citadel, thanks for that additional info.
If you go to The Military Shop, you can see chuckw’s Dauntless! After reading all about it, it was really neat to see it in person.
My daughter goes to college in Orange, so I get to visit the hobby shops when I go out to see her. I was at both Brookhurst Hobbies and Military Hobbies on Sunday. Brookhurst is huge and is having a sale - all plastic kits 20% off! Military Hobbies is a much smaller shop but still lots to see, and it was stacked to the ceiling with kits. Gotta visit both!
p.s. I bought the 1/35 Trumpeter VRC-105 Centauro RCV (Spanish Army) at Brookhurst and the 1/48 Italeri Spitfire Mk. XVI e at Military Hobbies.
I saw it back in March. It’s really quite awesome!
Yes, teh built up kits on display at the Military Shop in Long Beach are the most impressive of teh three shops. Lots of Award winning kits there.
