Pitcairn Autogyro PCA-2

I am in the midst of the 1/48 Williams kit and need some info re. cockpit details and I can’t find it on the internet. Although there is a good photo on the instruction sheet, it doesn’t show how the seat belts are positioned (attached). Also, the instructions refer to upholstery on the seat. Is this leather on the whole seat or just a plain seat pad? Rather esoteric questions, but if anyone can help, I would be grateful.

Sisu,

You’ve probably already seen this page, but it’s the closest to what you’re looking for as I can find. Doesn’t show much, but there’s several “skinless” shots which may give you some info.

URL has been amended in my next entry below

oldhooker,

I. too, have this kit, and tried the URL you posted, but it’s no good. I get an error message each time I click on it. Could you double-check the lettering, please? I really appreciate the help on this. I have the same questions that sisu does.

Hmmmm…

Sorry about that, Gary, I should have checked it’s validity before rushing off.
I missed something… it’s a long URL and… I double checked this one and it seems to work. There’s several aircraft listed, the pictures you’re looking for is on the PCA-2 link near the bottom of the list.

Thanks for bringing that to my attention, take care. [;)]

Frank,

THANKS!!! It works. I never would have thought to go to this website for info on aircraft. Tell King Richard that Indianapolis says hi!!

My pleasure, Gary.

Those pictures may not be the best, but their all that’s around, as far as I can find.

Richard rarely misses the Friday night football games at Randleman High School, during racing’s off season… here we are in the concession area last season, standing in line for some Hotdogs! [:D]

Take care,
Frank

sisu,

Back in the 30s Beechnut, the chewing gum folks, used a Pitcairn auto gyro for advertising. You might try their web site, or e-mail their public relations folks, to see if they have pictures. There were a lot of pictures at the time. Aviation was the hot topic in the 30s.

The Ford Museum in Dearborn Michigan has a Pitcairn auto gyro and they may have pictures. Amelia Earhart set an altitude record in a Pitcairn auto gyro, and had a minor crash in one. A search relative to her may pop the pictures of the auto gyro.

The Detroit Michigan newspaper operated a Pitcairn auto gryo. I think it was called the Detroit Press or Detroit Free Press, or Detroit News, something like that. They may have pictures. I think it is the same paper there today. E-mail their public relations folks.
Just some thoughts. rangerj
