Pirate vs Frigate

I remember hearing that one of the “pirate” ships sold today was originally sold as a French frigate. What pirate ship is that?

Was it? https://www.scalemates.com/kits/lindberg-817-298-french-sailing-ship-la-flore--1010681

Was reboxed into the Jolly Roger pirate ship.

That is correct. Originally produced in the 60’s, it was rebranded by Lindbergh in the 90’s. When the POTC movie first came out, I kitbashed my own Black Pearl using the Jolly Roger as a starting point. Of course, now you can just buy a Black Pearl in either wood or plastic.

Okay, the la Flore! i intend to build it as that.

Pirate mania lead to many re-boxings

yeah, seems too many people seem to think only two types of ships- pirate and warship. Even pirate ships were still first another another type of ship. Few pirate gangs built ship from keel up (mostly in indian and western pacific oceans).
