Darien - it’s more than vinegar but someone here used vinegar for his decals and it worked ok… (Microset works better according to him)
Sometimes when I gloss my kit for decalling, especially over a flat coat, it takes several applications of future. The flat paint seems to “drink up” the gloss…
If it is a tough decal I use Microset, then Microsol on it too… that REALLY softens it! Microsol will freak you out the first time… it wrinkles the decal all up and you think it is ruined… then it spreads right back out snug as a bug to the body…
Very colourful bird indeed. The thing that I use for my canopies is my eye glass cloth.
Its a mild abresive. Dont worry, there is no harm done to the clear plastic at all. Other than that the wildcat turned out great.
By the way, what type of paints did you use?? Any special weathering techniques used?
Flaps up, Mike
It sounds as if the decals were not so good.It sounds as if you did everything right so it iis possible that the Microset had no effect on the decals. This happens from time to time but if you get a high quality decal set from Microscale or Aeromaster the results should be much better.
It’s a very nicely done model, especially like the cockpit and the camo. I only must agree that the smoke traces are quite much dark, but that’s not a big problem.
