Critiques for betterment are welcome. Things I am aware of are
silvering of decals
gun residue maybe overdone
segment where 2 antenna wires are joined is too long
canopy pretty good, but still could be cleaner
Oh, the page is titled “Models I Have built”, and only has this one on it, but no, this is not my first. I have been on and off in the hobby. This is about my 12th in my adult life.
Nice build, Darien, especially the painting! Only two things I noticed–the silvering and the slightly overdone gun residue–you already pointed out. Did you use a nice gloss coat before the decals? I’ve switched from my airbrush to pastel chalks for my gun streaks, since I get more control that way.
Overall, a very nice model. My only critical comment would be: The amount of gun blast residue indicates a hard combat life. The panel lines and other weathering should probably be emphasized a little more to correlate to this level of use.
Looks good! What type of decal setting solution did you use?Except for the silvering it looks like an exceptional model to me,I especially like the canopy lines.Pretty good for a 1/72 scale aircraft!
dmcgeen, I have not happened to have seen a 1/144 scale anything yet. I’ll bet doing that canopy is fun![:)]
philo426, I have setting solution by Microscale called Micro Set. It worked great on another build where I did have the surface nice and glossy. On that one I was finishing in overall glossy, not flat, so that lent to having it ready for the decals without thinking so much about it. The solution smells like vinegar to me; is that all it is?![?]
