Moses could paint an armor piece PINK and it would turn out awesome [:p]
I really like the way the tracks turned out!

moses: I meant its better than I can do right now. but I think that with some more experience, I’ll be able to put out some nice ones. I just started modeling {I did a few when I was a kid (i’m 15 now)} a few months ago, I am just trying to get experience{and an airbrush (soon, I promise!!)} now. as they say practice makes perfect. I hope that’s true for me.
Thanks for the reply’s guys…
Build22, the Panzer III L is painted with a mixture of 40% Tamiya XF-60 Dark Yellow, 40% Tamiya XF-59 Desert Yellow and 10% Tamiya Clear. It was then highlighted with the same mixture but with about 20% Tamiya XF-2 Flat White.
I know the pics have different tonal values, but that is because my picture taking is horrible [V] .
I will have the finished pics up as soon as I get the rear stowage on. I have been using Earth tone pastels to weather it a bit more, so the clean look is more of a dusty look now. Especially on the lower part of the hull.
Oh and thanks Erock. You wouldn’t beleve me when I say that I am so colored blind that my wife sometimes needs to check the color mix before I spray… At least she is good for something [;)]
Cheers

don’t feel to bad, I can’t take pictures to save my bloody life!!!
Damnation…that’s GORGEOUS! And those photos are the linchpin for me…NO MORE TESTORS!! I threw (literally) together an SR-71 Blackbird, just to get back into the swing of modelling (it’s been 20 years, and I’m getting my son (9-year-old) involved too). I wanted to work with airbrushing, after seeing the great results, but Tamiya in my Badgers just took me over the top. I’d seen how everyone raved about the results of Tamiya paint, but I wanted the permanancy of enamel. NO MORE! I’m a die-hard convert now, and won’t look back!
My next project is Tamiya’s Panther…I’m going to revisit my ideas on construction, and I might just use the custom tracks you guys mentioned…looks damned good!
Quick notes: If there’s a Hobby Lobby store near you, keep an eye on their ads…they had a 1/2 off all models a couple of weeks ago…I walked with a $100-worth of models for $50 (including the Panther. $10 for a Tamiya kit’s a steal.).
Second, I live near Fort Knox, Kentucky. If you want/need any photos of WW2 tanks (even those silly Shermans ducks :D), let me know…I’ve been begging for an excuse to go back to the Patton museum and get some nice pictures of the cutaway (you hear me right) King Tiger. You don’t appreciate the armor on those babies 'til you you see the armor from the side!
Great model again Moses!
[:0]Wow[:0] I feel beat alreadyB) Nice paint job
Moses,
Thanks for the reply. It looks good in any of the pictures.
Wow i thought this thread was long gone. Actually that Panzer III looks nothing like that anymore. It is a bit more weathered and has stowage on teh rear and hull sides. I will have new pics up by mid week.
Cheers

MOSES… great work m8… very clean looking , you say it’s an in progress. what stage are you at? i noticed the shadows around …nuts and bolts, so i take it you are at somekind of weathering stage.and after re reading the replies i know what stage you are at…lol…me likee…nice kit i will have to put a Piii on my list…
Hey DEAKON, those photos were taken before the actual pastel work. I use Winser Newton Oils to do all my pin washing (i.e. around nuts/bolts, recessess, panel lines, etc.) The model looks abit bit more weathered, but not to weathered. I was going for a more artsy (is that a word[:p]) portrayal of the Panzer III L. I do not own a Digital Camara, and I have to wait until mid week to borrow a friens [V].
Thanks for the kind words DEAKON.
Cheers
Rob
Yeah, that was very impressive, I think that cutaway and the pierced steel plate display showing different ammo penetration were the things that impressed me the most.
