Sure doesn’t look like “rookie” work! [#welcome]
Welcome Back.
And, oh yeah, “awe-inspring” would be he words for your 190. Which kit is that?
It’s obvious that the hobby can only be glad to have you back… don’t wait another ten years to show us a piece of art like this one.
Nice build…good to have you back, I am just returned myself…
Very, very nice. The Revell Germany kit you say? I haven’t built the kit, but it’s an excellent company. And I see you took full advantage of it. Welcome back! (The BMW looks awesome!)
mucker, It is the 1/32 scale revell-germany fw-190 f8 kit. It had all raised details that i sanded off and rescribed the panel lines, that was a challenge. I used all revel colors and the very cheap horrible testors airbrush, think that the smallest width spray that i got out of the thing was about 1 inch. I have tossed it since. Overall not the greatest kit, but it has been my labor of love for the better part of two months. I ran into huge gaps on the upper wing roots and under the rear fusalage wing area, replaced the oleo struts because they were too huge and looked horrible. I weathered the bird with pastel chalks, and watered down tempra paints, and a black silver acrylic wash for the grime. Man it was fun!!!
Excellent build Matt. Doesn’t look as though you lost your touch.
regards, Rick
Outstanding work there Matt. Nice job on a complicated camo scheme. Welcome back, the hobby’s missed you.

Thanks all for the wonderful comments. I will credit this site for the paint job. Lots of research on how to paint the mottles and weathering. it is amazing how versital a box of girl-scout cookies can be!!! (the box was perfect length and width to form a long template for the mottles, including the tail)!!! [^]
that’s a great looking finish…but for a 10 year absence (where have you been?[:(!])…WOW that’s good!!![8D][8D][8D]
Very nice good clean build. Welcome back.
Outstanding! Looking forward to seeing more of your work. Welcome back.
Very nice build!
I think you’ve made quite an impression with that bad boy! Welcome back and well done!

Great lookin Butcher Matt. You did an bang up job on it. Something about your splinter on the wing tops… I dont know what it is, cant put my finger on it. Colors look right. Maybe a little soft at the demarcation.
The Spiral on the nose is awesome great job, I always seem to not get my spacing right on those.
Jeff
believe it or not the spiral was the kit decal, laid down with white vinegar and a ton of patience, i cut it a few times to get it to sit well but other than that just fiddled with it till it looked good. I used card stock paper for the splinter masks, held off of the wing about 1/16" by tape, those colors were the second attempt at the scheme. I like the green schemes better than the grey that seems prevelant these days. I googled my self to tears trying to find color pics of the bird. I guess that being stationed in Germany made me work all that much harder on the kit. BTW the final overcoat is satin, made a mistake tryintg to read the German spray can!!![:D]
Thanks for the Great comments!!! I have been long trying to get back into the hobby, and finally my JOB and all that is allowing me - and God bless my wife for putting up with the clutter and workbench mess all the time.
Nice work matt

Looks great. What aftermarket sets did you use, if any?
mmmmm… girl scout cookies… err… sorry it looks awesome. Very nice on the spiral… I’ve always found these to be a pain.
Kielers - believe it or not, there are no aftermarket parts on this build. Everything that i wanted to detail was done with varoius wires and cardstock. I sanded flush the large avionics door on the left rear fusalage and replaced it with a .005" sheet cut to size, i think that it looks way better. And actually the engine cowling is left open because i damaged the piece trying to make a cardstock replacement - oh well [:I]. I guess it just helps to present the big BMW 801 engine.
Thanks for the awsome comments everyone, i really appreciate them.
