:550:0]Well, got myself banged up pretty bad at work back in October. Took a bad fall, had surgery on the right knee, and they’re still working on the left ankle. So I couldn’t get around for a while. To pass the time I decided to build a few plastic model ships. I build strictly in wood when it comes to ships, but had the Revell HMS bounty in 1/110 and the Academy Cutty Sark 1/150 in my stash. I had purchased them not long before my accident at Hobby Lobby on the clearance shelf for $7.99 and $18.99. I know the Bounty kit is old and not accurate, and didn’t know anything about the Academy kit, but for those prices I snatched them up. I built the Bounty first. I stitched my own shrouds and rigged her to my liking, and what I thought it should be. Other than that it’s built straight out of the box, oh yeah, I left those rediculous carronades off. I built the Cutty Sark straight out of the box. My wife saw that it came with sails and said “you always build these ships without sails, I want sails on this one”. The sails were blowmolded in a tan color, I painted and mounted them. I had to put it on a more stable base. The base that came with the ship was 5" long, the ship is 22" long. It’s really helped me pass the time and were two enjoyable builds. I’m adding pictures, they should post, just did a test before this. Ken
