I’m back with more photos. This time from the Aerospace Valley Air Show held at Edwards AFB. The base was celebrating the 75 years of supersonic flight. I took a few pictures while I was there, and I figured I’d share.
Great pictures O; thanks for posting. Went to the Swansea air show in Wales back in July a very cloudy day. A display by a PY5 and the Red Arrows were my highlights.
Oh man O, thank you for posting those! The Edwards AFB Open House Air Show used to be one of my favorites (along with El Toro) when I lived in CA. But so many times work or weekend drills with the Guard got in the way. The ground displays there were often one of a kind, and flight displays often so unique to Edwards as well. Where else could you see Chuck Yeager break the Sound Barrier again in person?
Hey gang, thank you for the kind words! I’m glad you liked the photos! I’m more than happy to share.
Hey stik, there were some cool static displays this year. The USAF TPS VISTA F-16 was on display, as was a F-16XL from Edwards’ Flight Test Museum. There was the Darkstar from the Maverick movie parked next to a SR-71. All three versions of the F-35 (USN, USAF, and British) were there.
The flying, of course, was amazing. To start was a mock dogfight between two F-16s, a F-35 and a F-22. Followed by a B-1 low-level “bomb run.” One of the highlights, for me at least, were the two sonic booms. The F-18 dove into a “boom” from 35,000’ (if I remember correctly), and the F-15 went supersonic, straight and level, at 40,000 (if my memory serves me). I thought it was fitting, seeing as it was 75 years (and 2 days) since Yeager first did it.
Anyway, thanks again for the compliments. I appreciate the pats on the back. Thanks again for looking!
