Hi everyone,
I bought a VLS detail kit for a 1/35 Tamiya T34/85 and it included some metal photo-etched parts. I’ve never used photo-etched parts before…what kind of glue do I use to bond them to the (1) the model kit parts and (2) to the resin parts from the VLS kit? How about painting them, are there any special things I should know about painting them (this may sound silly but I’m assuing they are meant to be painted…they’re copper looking now) like cleaning, priming or the type of paint needed…

Both resin and P/E sould be cleaned with soapy water. Use CA to attach. No priming nessacary. Paint as required.
Thanks…btw what is CA?..I have “super glue” and liquid model cement right now…
CA is the abbreviation cynoacrylate? —basically superglue’s main ingredient. model cement works on polystyrene plastic only.
Affermative, C.A. is Cyano Acrylate…
By the way, should you ever stick your finger and thumb together, keep it under running warm water and slowly work the two free…
Hey Kevin, you may want to consider 5 minute epoxy. For me, super glue just sets up too fast., and it’s hard to get any excess off. But with 5 minute epoxy, it takes some time to set up, and when it is just past tacky, you can pick off any excess with a toothpick or your knife, leaving behind almost nothing. And it’s very strong too.

i’ve built quite a few models in my past but am just getting back into it with some new kits with ‘grade-up kits’. I have the Tamiya Enzo kit, and just received the Studio 27 PE kit. i can’t beleive how small some of the pieces are. i can’t imagine using CA on the ‘pininfarina’ badge for instance. would ‘Future’ work better for such small pieces that will be very visible on the outside of the body? maybe place the PE logo while the future is wet, then with the additional one or two coats it would be sealed in. This will be my first time with PE Parts and Future.
Suggestions?
