PE Wax Pencil

I obtained a few of the Ultimate PE wax pencils from across the pond. Sharpened one up today as I was building a few seat belt sets for the BF110D I’m building. Slick tool, very handy, works well!

Cheers,

Bob

Where did you get them from? I ordered a couple, also from across the pond, but they were very brittle, wouldn’t sharpen well without crumbling and were kinda hard so they didn’t really stick to the PE. The markings on the pencil were Japanese or Chinese, with the number 543.

How about a sharp crayola?

mine are the same as yours ej , they work well .

As are mine. Ordered from Hobbytown. I did use an electric pencil sharpener, don’t know if that made a difference. Sounds like you may have the results of poor quality control.

Cheers,

Bob

Thanks. I’ll order another and try again.

This is a new one on me. Whats it used for.

Okay, what is a PE wax pencil. Does this have anything to do with making PE (wax is a resist) or is it a coloring method?

I’ve been looking for a better/easier way to make PE. I bought the Micro Mark PE making set, and did get a good fret, but it is a really involved method, and looking into toner transfer methods now.

Just that, a pencil with a waxy substance in it. Used as a pick up tool for small parts, especially PE.

I wasn’t having much luck with mine, maybe they were mishandled or frozen in shipping ore something. If I can get one that sticks just a bit better. I’ve used the little waxy dental picks, but they stick too well and often don’t release the part easily.

Maybe I’m just too fussy, looking for the “perfect” part picker upper.

I too have the PE making kit, but havn’t tried it yet. Want to make rotors for 1/540 helicopters, but have to figure out the artwork. Tried to photocopy some originals, but it didn’t work out too well. On the other hand, I havn’t really spent the time on it either.

I also have a few of these PE wax pencils from Ultimate Products, I really do like them; however, I will admit that I am still a novice with regards to the use of PE. I definately need some more practice with the stuff. These pencils do help with placing small parts and the parts dont get marked up by some tweezers or flung off into the Abyss, never to return again.
