Well i have decided to build a Revell-Monogram kit of a P-51 Mustang. My only problem is that i want to add some Photo Etched detail to her. I found a great price at www.squadron.com (4.95) for a detail set for a P-51…but the only problem is, it is for a Tamiya kit of the mustang…both scales are 1/48. Would it be possible to use the Tamiya PE in the Revell kit? i mean they are the same plane right? I’m very new to use PE detail…My first time ever so any help would be greatly appreciated as i dont know what im doing.
Well, they may be thes same size, but no two kits are the same. You could probably use the PE set, just not all of it. I’m by no means an expert, though…
What brand is the PE set? Eduard for example has their instructions online at their website www.eduard.cz and perhaps others do as well. If you could check out the instructions first, you could get a good idea of the appilicability of the Tamiya set to the Revell kit.
One possible type of gotcha, for instance, would be if the Tamiya instrument panel is a lot better than the Revell one (not familiar with either kit so this is an example) such that Tamiya specific set does not bother including and instrument panel whereas a Revell specific set might.
