Parafilm

I have heard good things about the product Parafilm. Any comments good or bad? I should be receiving my first roll of Parafilm in the next few days. Need some input i.e. how to use, etc?

Thanks

Alan

Alan,

I’ve got a big roll of it and have tried to use it a few times. It requires practice to get the stretch just right. Too thick and it won’t adhere well, too thin and it can tear when you are trying to cut it. It does stretch a lot, so don’t cut off a big piece like you would masking tape. A one inch square is best to start off with while you are getting a feel for it.

Stretch and then cover your canopy. If you are able to brace your piece and use both hands to pull the Parafilm down over it, you’ll probably get a better fit.

And most important, use a very sharp, fresh blade to cut.

I have tried it, but found it difficult to work with and it didn’t seal well. Paint had no problem oozing under it. I still have part of the roll I bought 20 years ago and don’t use it any more.

I tried it several years ago got decent results then I discovered blue painters tape excellent results don’t use Para Film anymore. ACESES5

I prefer it for masking canopies.

Stretch it out to about 3-4 times it’s width then let it ‘rest’. Burnish it to the canopy., but don’t worry if you have a some small folds in it.

A sharp knife is a MUST.
