Panzer III and Its Variants GB

I’ll see about getting some sprue shots - there’s a lot of them!

And yeah, I’m totally planning on doing the Vorp on the box. There are actually a few cool options included, but I like the gray/white of the box art the best.

Also just placed way too big an order through SB. Friuls and stowage for the Vorp, and a stowage set for my Pz.IV WIP.

Thanks Andy-I’ll wait and see what Ogrejohn says-if he wants to go with the Strum, great and I’ll take the StuG F…or we could have two Strum’s…yeah…that might be the ticket…

DP, I’m heading to the LHS tomorrow. I gotta tell ya that I’m a bit intimidated. While I do like a challenge, my knowledge and skills are limited. Can you recommend a kit under seventy five dollars that can be built pretty much straight from the box? My LHS has a ton of kits and can get me anything I want. Maybe a Dragon smart kit? I hate to sound virginal but this is my first serious build and I want to nail it while still having fun.

For what its worth, the Tamiya kits are a pleasant build with enough detail to look good without driving you nuts. Check the online shops for a feel about prices, but I think the Dragon kits are in the $40 range.

Remember, this is fun.

Dragon’s online shop has some really nice specials. My Vorpanzer was $50, but I grabbed a King Tiger w/ zimmeritt for $30 and a Panzer II Ausf C for $20.

Here’s an Ausf N for $30: http://www.dragonusaonline.com/item_detail.aspx?ItemCode=DRA6474

Chazzer- Nah you don’t have to be intimidated. I see great people here in our GB and they are very helpful. I received plenty of support from others in the past GBs… I could list all names who have helped me and most of them are here. Lucky you! [;)]

If you want something easy and fun to build… I would recommend Tamiya StuG III Ausf B. Its a new release… it is still one of my favorites. Check Hinksy’s thread… that’s the one you should try if you haven’t.

Nobody has signed for StuG III Ausf B…

MAJ Mike- Agree with you… go for Tamiya! [Y]

DoogsATX- Thanks for the link! [B] I have been shopping around today for Pz III Ausf E but haven’t ordered yet. Found one on sale for only $25.

Bergepanzer III for me,also perhaps a flammpanzer III but if someone else wants that flampanzer the’ll have to pinky wrestl me for it. Just kiddin.[;)]

Greg"Detailfreak"Rowley[Y]

detailfreak- Way to go my friend. I think you can handle two builds because I know where you live. [:D] Pinky wrestle with you for flammpanzer? I will win… too easy because I will just put your beard on fire using that little flammpanzer. Looking forward doing GB again… remember the Turretless GB? We rocked!

I better hurry and finish my Chaffee for Korea War GB then finish Panzer IV Ausf H for Ostfront GB which I haven’t started. [:|]

Later…

Pssst,also used as a munitions schlepper.[:O]

Wow!

What a great response!

When Andy mentioned a possible Panzer III GB I thought it would be popular - this could be one awesome build.

Nice to see folk already getting kit’s in too. I’ve got my Pz III Ausf. N on order and then I’ll look at getting the StuG III C/D ordered later on in the year depending how much time and effort I manage to cram in the Ausf. N.

I’m really looking forward to this getting started [Y]

Chazzer!! Got an e-mail from Dragon today. They have “Buy one, get one 1/2 price” sale on selected models and there’s a Panzer III for less than $30 and a StuG III in the same price range. Check the sale details, that would be something to consider. We don’t start until 1 July. [:D]

From the Dragon USA site.

Thanks for the tip. Just bought the Flammenpanzer and the Pz III G Afrika Korps.

I exist only to serve.

Bouncy 8I’m in! Put me down for the Stug III Ausf “B”. What a nice Tamiya kit. It’s got an aluminum barrel and some PE intakes. I also picked up Tamiya’s PE grille. Very exited, can’t wait to start!

Scott

Good to hear that you found a kit you like.

You guys sure are not a very good influence putting that Dragon site up! There are a few in there on sale I have been wanting.

Satch ip- Thanks for the link! I got you down for both Flammpanzer and Pz III G. Always a big fan of Afrika Korps. That’s what I am thinking about doing for my Ausf E if it served in North Africa.

MAJ Mike- Please get me a [B]. Looking forward to your excellent service…

Chazzer- Way to go! Trust me you will enjoy this build. It was solid and easy build. Be careful with its periscope because it was fragile so assemble it last. Also, I would glue the ‘L’ shaped brass PE holding the antenna in the rear at the end because it snapped few times during the assembling stage.

But it is still one of my favorite builds… feel free to check my thread in Turretless GB /forums/p/129514/1311468.aspx#1311468 and of course Hinksy’s as he is working on it right now.

Rob- I know… way too tempting to buy a kit every time we see a sale going on or a very good build. Right now I am tempted to buy PzJager I and you know why… [:D]

As you wish.

So that’s what people meant when they thanked me for my 24 years of service.

Not a problem. I was going to do it as a second build but, giving my usual glacial speed building, I don’t know if I’d be able to finish it.
