I am thinking about building either a Panther or Tiger but wanted to get everyones input as which kit I will build. Basicly which manufacturer makes the best kit either model plus which one is the best value for the price.
Thanks for the info and I hope everyone had a good holiday.
It depends on what you mean by “best”. For buildability, Tamiya’s Panther Gs or Tiger Is (1989 or newer, not the 1970s version) are well designed, easily buildable kits.
Very accurate but complex builds would be the DML Tiger I series. Their Panther G “Smart Kit” is a great compromise btn complexity/detail and buildability.
These will all run about $28-40. Ebay is a good place for less expensive Tamiya options.
The Dragon G Nightfighter kit can be gotten for under $20. Their Panther A’s and D’s are the best on the market. The Dragon Tiger I Initial and Late 3-in-1’s are state of the art and have it all, and are cheaper than Tamiya, though harder to find.
i am currently building the dml tiger1 initial version and in my opinion it is a thing of beauty.not only is this kit highly detailed.if you throw in an interior kit and a recording of the engine sounds. you may have trouble controling yourself! as for the early tamiya tigers they are very boring and lackluster.as panthers go i am in the middle ofa panther a early kit #6160 and this is also a very nice kit.i have read much about the panther smart kit and it sounds as though i may have to try one of those in the future.also e-bay is a very good place to shop just watch out for those who make aliving from the shipping.your only limitation is your imagination.build both.
