Panther camo-need help

Hey!
I`m looking for camo scheme for my 2 Panthers.I would like to find camo from IV Panzer Division and GD.My panter are G version, first has zimm, chin gun mantlet and standard exhaust pipes.
Second one has chin gun mantlet ,no zimm and Flammvernichter. Both use standard wheels.

All the ones that I have from GD dont meet your requirements. A little creativity never hurts.

There’s gotta be a million pictures of what you’re looking for on the internet, Piotr.
Type “Panther G” into the search engine of your choice, and start hunting!

I will add to Brians’ comments, what really matters here is the theatre and time period, in other words, when and where the unit was deployed. You will find that the three tone camo for the Panther G will vary between PLATOONS. I don’t think you can group correct camoulflage on German armor by division. There are too many variables involved. I think you would be better off concentrating on your build quality, accuracy of the subject and don’t worry too much about the camo patterns. Basically, anything goes. You will see the so called “experts” with volumes of black and white photos debating on the correct shades of dunkelgelb, rotbraun and olivgrun. To this day you will not see much agreement as to “correct” colors. These would have been the colors for the Panther G, just build the models man!.

Steve

I agree in part with what has been said. I think the style and color of turret number for the unit is important, along with the colors that the unit used for the correct time period, and the style of camo pattern used by the unit. Some units used sprayguns some used brush and rag.

If I am not mistaken the late war tanks were shipped in primer and the sand and green were applied on site. The stocks of sand and green varied so a red brown color could be the predominate color. Greg.

O.K… After looking through many sites I came up with this photo that says it’s a Panther G of the 4th Pz in 1945. Can’t verrify, but it’s from a German site called Lexikon der Whermacht. From what I can tell it’s an ambush scheme.

Kinda like this

Every thing I’ve read or seen (including talking to a couple of people who were there) would indicate that the base color of WW II German AFVs was painted on at the factory (Grey for early war vehicles - Yellow for late war) and shipped to the units. The browns and greens were applied by the crew, which means that in most cases no two tanks in a unit had the same camoflage scheme. There were exceptions of course, the prime example being the Hermann Goering Panzer Div. Apparently they received their Panthers while in a rest area and each company was given a paint scheme unique to it and all of it’s tanks were painted in that scheme.

If you can find a copy, Squadron once published a soft cover book on GD. I didn’t get one when they were readily available and have regreted it ever since.

Well, dear Friends, thanks for Your notice. Probably my english is the reason we dont understand.Camo is for me exactly peripheral thing. The most important is ,Im sure that at this unit they had tank with features what i have wrote.
For example this tank what Stug 61 shars is very nice but gun mantlet is not Chin type.
I know that tank was repainted 2-3 times a year, then another features are important. For example tank what i ve built from I Brygada Pancerna was without fender during Gdansk period. For me that is important! I have read some books about IV DP and GD and Im not sure they had this kind of tank, therefore my question and request for help.
I would like to thanks all Friend for notice again[bow]

second step
I wait Your help as before!

Is your question asking whether these divisions were equipped with Panther G’s? You have really confused me here, and I would really like to help. Can you clarify what you want? Maybe one of your friends can translate a little better.

Anyway, good luck on your Panther project.

LOL…Steve

Dear Crockett!
Your Tiger N*342 is from s Pz abt 503.Typical for this unit is rommel kasten.I would like to be sure that at GD or IV DP they had Panther G but with features like chin gun mantlet and flammvernichter. That all what i wish to know. At "4 .Panzer-Division on the eastern Front(2)1944 "by Robert Michulec i have seen some panther G,but earlier version.I ask because maybe someone knows another photos.

Ok-now I understand, let me look around and I will get back to you my friend.

Steve

Here is a good link with the specific Panther information for GD…
http://members.shaw.ca/grossdeutschland/

This is way of topic; but this is why I love this site. People all around the world helping each other work through a quesiton.

Sorry, I just had to add my 2 cents.

Later…Stacy

Maybe I am confused but I thought that the Panther G came with the chin mantel. Greg.

Yes the G had the “chin”, I still don’t get the whole thing. GD did have Panthers in 44, so they were probably early G models. I couldn’t find any thing on 4th Panzer after the Polish campaign.

Dear Crockett!
Thanks for Your effort. It`s really problem because most photos of IV DP finish at early spring 45.Thanks for link too.

Well,is it possible? Who knows what the unit is?

Is chin on this photo?

I have found all images here->http://www.panzer.punkt.pl/index.htm

Still nothing !? Please help![:(]
