Panther Ausf. A & Tiger I projectile same?

Another post…

Dose the Tiger I and Panther Ausf. A have the same projectile?

Thanks again.

The Panther had a 75 gun, while the Tiger had the 88. As far as how much bigger the 88 would be versus the 75, I don’t have any picture reference.

O.k thanks, they look the same, would it be noticable if you used tiger ones in a dio?

In 1/35th I am guessing that you would encounter people who would notice the difference. You would want to make sure that they are obviously larger than the barrel.

O.k, it is a 0.37mm difference in 1/35 scale, it would be hard for me to tell the difference. Oh well…

75mm = 2.14…mm in 1/35 scale
88mm = 2.51…mm in 1/35 scale

Thanks again.

Don’t forget to check the diameter and general shape, too. But the length difference would be tough to tell

This picture was given to me by Captain Caveman a while back.

on the far left you have a panther round, then you have a 75 mm projectile. the rest are Tiger rounds, the large one in the middle is a Tiger II round. The big projectile to the right is a 128 mm Jagdtiger projectile.

Isn’t the diameter 75mm? They shape seems to be the same as well as hight, just different colours. Here are two pics I got off a site, what do you think?

TIGER I (88mm)

PANTHER (75mm)

O.k there goes my idea…[:-^]

Thanks for the picture TMN1.

uh…yeah. Me being a little dense. [D)]

OK, looking at the actual photos of the real ammo, the diameter of the 75mm and the 88mm shell caseings are about the same. The length of the shell caseings are also about the same. The real difference is the projectile. The 88mm projectile is about the same diameter as the shell caseing however the 75mm is obviously a smaller diameter projectile than the shell caseing. The difference would be obvious to someone who knew. Greg.
