Paints other than Tamiya, Testors etc.

For any of you guys and gals out there stuck on finding your military colors from companies who “specialize” in such and can never find exactly what your looking for. Well…

You might try looking to the Fanatsy and Sci-fi figure manufactures who also make paint for their lines of miniatures like Games Workshop, Reaper etc.

I use the Reaper line of Pro Paints for figure painting and like the colors they offer. I have found that quite a few of their colors match up real good to simulate US Marine camo HBTs and Marine green HBTs of WW2. If your a military modeler you should check them out , you might be surprised how many of them will work for your military modeling subjects.

I use artist acrylics that you can get at any craft supply store, i.e. Michaels or whatever the local name. Most of the base colors are close to Tamiya or testors, some mixing is needed. I use them exclusively, a 50/50 mix with water and bamm!

Mitchell,

I thought I was the only one using Reaper and Citadel paints. I have to agree that these paints are actually a very good choice, especially for camo and “hard to mix” colors. Some of their oddball paints such as “Orc Flesh” make perfect interior and hard to find colors for alot of military vehicles. That, and they’re pretty cheap, too. If you get the opportunity, try looking at the AD&D paint line, if it’s still being made. They have a great selection of browns and greys.
