I recently purchased this model and was reading the painting directions. My confusion is about some of the interior instructions. In certain areas the painting guide reads XF-3:2
+XF-5:1 My confusion is how this is read. Does this indicate I need to mix paints. Tamiya and further reading of the directions were of no help. If anyone can give me some advice it would be appreciated
Armin
Yes. In the example that you give. You would mix 2 parts of XF-3 with 1 part XF-5 to get the color that you need. If you are not using Tamiya paints, just find the corresponding colors in the brand that you use and mix those in the same way.

Armin, I hope this helps. This means a mix of the two Tamiya colors. Two parts XF-3 and One part XF-5.[tup] Bob
Just buy a bottle of ModelMaster Interior Green for the Corsair cockpit and forget about Tamiya paints. Great kits, not so great paint in my opinion.

i agrees with rick . tamiya do nice plane but poor on color guidance
I didn’t even notice, shows how much I pay attention to the directions[zzz]. Go with the Testors Interior Green. Its matches the FS number as close as trying to mess with mixing.
Get the Polly Scale Interior Green, brushes better and easier to clean. I have both, and the Polly Scale is much better in my opinion.
Armin hi, and welcome to the forums!![:)][:)][:)]
all the above advice was correct regarding paint mixtures and so on, and absolutely spot on re polly scale paints!![:)] they do a whole line of country specific paints which are great for most aircraft that you want to build.
i have a tamiya corsair[:)] awaiting construction[V] and have the following polly colours for it:
us sea blue, polly scale ref F505092
us light grey , F505090
us intermediate blue F505094
us interior green F505096
these should be the main plane specific colours you need to complete your bird, as i guess you’ll have your blacks, metallic greys etc etc already.
hope this helps,
nick
