Painting over Future....

Can i paint acrylic over FUTURE???

or do i haveto sand or remove it first???

I don’t see why not. Future is really just clear, acrylic paint. But one problem I see is that the slick surface may not have enough “tooth” for the paint to adhere to. Can Future be lightly scuffed with a scotchbrite pad after it is fully cured? Swanny?

hmmm, i’ll have to try lighty sanding it…

I paint Gunze and Tamiya over Future all the time with great results. The Future is not only an Acrylic itself but acts in large part as a primer. It’s smooth surface also aids in a smooth layer of over painted acylics, enamels, etc. Just be sure that the Future has had time to fully cure; say about 24 hrs or so to be on the safe side. If masking afterwards use a “low-tack” brand such as “Scotch Blue Painters masking tape”, Tamiya tape or Parafilm-M works well.

Thanks!!

I even read once people recommend Future as primer, especially for silver finish. The basis, as claimed, is Future provides a much smoother surface for achieving a great silver finish.
