Painting ACU

Iam useing hobby fan 1/35 scale U.S. stryker brigade oif acu crew with my afv stryker I need help with the color for the acu what colors would you suggest to paint these guys

ACUs are pixelated sand, grey-green, and foliage green. I am not sure of any out of the bottle matches. The best way seems to be using the salt technique to get the pixelated effect as well. Basically, you apply your base color first and let it dry. Selectively wet areas of the figure and apply coarse salt to it and let it dry onto the figure. Now spray on your next color. Once dry, repeat the salt and apply the third color. Once dry, rub it all down to remove the salt and show the layers underneath. It works pretty well. Do a search here for a tutorial on it.

Here is a pic of the ACU pattern to help as well.

and it totally concealed in an “urban” environment…

Oh Man! That’s damn near perfect camo! The only way your wife could find you is by the boot color. What a way to hide from the “honey do list” [bow] and catch a nap! For a moment I thought you did the whole couch in camo. Love it…

That is a brilliant camo demonstration! [(-D]

I’ve used the salt technique for weathering. I would recommend washing it off under warm water, if possible, instead of rubbing.

Good luck. Please share the outcome.

Here’s an attempt on Armorama, and I think he nailed the colors a bit better than I did.

hth,

Austin
