paint stripper

what is everyone method for striping an old model for repaint and decal. so what does every one like to use.i am looking for a fast product to strip an f-18 and a f-14 thanks rob[:D][:D]

For Enamel ,Just whipe on Brake Fluid with a brush and wait two hours then remove the paint. For Acylics submerce the model in Windex for a while and scrub with a stiff brush, tooth brush etc.

Any idea what Windex is called in the UK? Windolene - that’s what! I’ve just googled it up. Interesting, as that’s what you all mention for cleaning Future out of your airbrush.[:)]

Castrol Super Clean will get it off nicely, it not nearly as toxic as brake fluid either.

Oven cleaner works for me. I just spray it on, then let the model sit for a few hours and I can scrub most of the paint off with an old toothbrush. I have used bleach once to remove some chrome plating, so I guess it could work on paint as well. Have not tried that though.

What is the best method the wash your model ?

I use DOT-3 brake fluid to strip enamel paint and decals. As with any petroleum product, use of rubber gloves to protect your hands is recommended. I would consider the fumes as non-existent or negligble, especially compared to the fumes and smell of oven cleaners. Westley’s Bleach White, the white wall tire cleaner, is great for removing chrome plating on car parts, etc.

the laquer thinner is good for paint stripping

how do you strip paint off vinyl kits, does brake fluid work.

scott.

I use Weatley’s Bleach White for all my paint stripping and it seems to work pretty well.I tried Brake fluid but I did not like how greasy it was.I use Fantastik as a chrome-stripper and it works very well.Experiment on scrap models until you find the stripper that works best for you.

no no no no no no no no no !!!
that method only works on soft plastics!!!
I had to learn it the hard way by melting my plastic…[:(!]
