I have a Hasegawa model. My problem is that I don’t have access at my local hobby shops for some of the paint colors. Please explain the RLM to me and what is the difference between the white and black boxes. I know the white box is gunze sangyo. Basic colors are easy, but some of the special colors I cannot find (have looked online but can’t seem to find the black box colors or the RLM’s). Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Reichsluftministrium (RLM)
These are color names such as RLM 66 which is black gray or RLM 02 which is gray green. If you cannot find the exact paint codes at your local hobby shop then you can look for the color name by another manufacture or go on-line to someplace like squadron.com or greatmodels.com and order your paints - that’s usually what I do. Both of these sites offer search engines where you can type in the RLM number and get several paint options, squadron even provides a color chip.
Depending on the kit manufacture the color codes listed may not be accurate, since you are talking RLMs I assume you are working on a Luftwaffe project so this link may be of interest to you.

Both colours listed in the Hasegawa instructions are Gunze Sangyo colours, one number is for their Enamel range the other for their Acrylics range.
