I want to buy my first gravity feed airbrush for detail work and like the look of the Paasche Talon.
Currently I just have a Testors Aztec A320 worhorse, which doesnt really work too well for me other than just acting like a high priced spray can. But it was my first airbrush and I didnt know any better.
Does anyone have any good reviews of the Talon? I was also considering the Badger 105. I’d like to stay in the $100 or less rancge. Any thoughts anyone?
Well I just saw some similiar forum posts about this airbruch, so sorry for the redundancy. never-the-less, any more input would be great.

Very cool website, I’m enthralled! Reading your reviews right now! Thanks for the link. Sounds like the Badger 105 might be a good way to go as well. There are so many options that I feel paralyzed!
I do have one questions about gravity cuts. I have been using and am used to a side feed siphon bottle that I can rotate depending on what angle I want to paint at, and still keep the paint surface relatively level in the bottle. But I am curious/worried that with a fixed cup on top that paint at different angles may be a problem if the paint is moving/sloshing in the cup.

Maybe you should consider getting another side feed brush, if that’s what you’re used to. But really, if you have a cap on the cup, you’d have to turn the brush upside down to spill any.

James Bella’s Talon review is one of the earliest, and still a very balanced one.
For a little more, you will do well to look at the Iwata Eclipse HP-CS or the Harder & Steenbeck Evolution Silverline. There is a difference in quality of these two against the others at the same price range. Hold one in you hand to feel the balance and try the trigger. You will know what I mean.

If you decide to buy a Talon, its worth the few xtra bucks to get the full set with three tips and a mini spray head. I’ve owned mine for about a year and am very happy with it. Since my workhorse for years was a Paasche VL, I can’t offer any brand comparisons, but I can say that the gravity feed is a lot easier to deal with than the siphon feed, unless you’re painting something that requires the volume of paint that the bottles hold. Some complain that the Talon is poorly balanced, i.e., front heavy, and that may be the case but I found that shifting my grip slightly was all that was required for my comfort, once again because I’m used to a fairly heavy setup.

If you have a set of nozzles from your old Aztek, you are just $75 away from getting their newest metal version body. You won’t find it anywhere else but directly with Testors. I own a Talon, but it is just gathering dust, used it a few times and went back to the original box. Good AB, but I’m too used to the Aztek system.

This Mig 21, just fresh from the oven. Done with the Tan Nozzle free hand. All paints were ready in their respective gravity cups. I just flush the nozzle with alcohol and switch color. Whatever saves me time on the workbench, I’ll go for it. Just my 2 humble cents.
EDIT: Mike, that’s my main complaint with the Talon. Poor balance and ergonomics.

It is hard to argue with success. Beautiful MIG-21 build. If you like the Testors, stick with it.
I like my Iwata and H&S Evolution. Outstanding balance and ergonomics. It is head and shoulder above the made-in-China knock-off and other brands that I have.
I had an Aztek 4709 for a short while. Got rid of it quick due to poor construction quality.
