well I have been at this one for a while, I have wanted to build “Eva Lee” for many years, so this is a modelling ambition fulfilled. Here is Hobbycraft’s 1/32 P-51A with a few additions from me. I added spares to the cockpit, scratch built the P/R camera, drilled out the exhausts and installed a radiator with dropped flaps.
The base is home made and the figure is from Masterbox. I hope you like my model, thanks for looking.
Nice work. However, with the camera installation behind the cockpit, you have made an F-6A. So the markings on this model are on the incorrect variant.
As for which variant it is, or which mark it should be I had different references, I settled on it being a P-51A with a camera installed as that is what my sources told me. However, I am no expert by any means and am happy to learn more about this aircraft and which variant it actually was. My theory is that is was not a PR bird during Operation Torch and was modified later on in the field.
If you chaps have any more information, I’d love to know more.
Very cool Darren, Love the build and the base and figure is a nice touch, i may have to start doing that with my builds rather than just sitting them on the shelf…well done[Y][Y][Y]
[Y]I’m sure that I’m not the only Mustang Fan that thinks, “A Sweet-lookin’ Sweet”… I absolutely love the way you carried the ground color up onto the gear and doors… Ties it to its base very convincingly, so give yourself an extra ration of Grog and have yourself a Hollywood Shower when you go off-watch for the ground-work, and start thinkin’ “diorama next time”… [t$t]
It’s a bit too clean & shiny top-side for that terrain, weather, and my personal taste, but it’s still an outstanding piece…
My Score: 9… With Two points just because it’s NOT a P-51B/C or D/K and in the ETO in NMF… There’re just not enough early Green Ponies being done, IMNSHO…
Again, truly a work one can call outstanding… Bravo Zulu, Tango -1
