Aires makes a nice set
Availible from http://www.greatmodels.com

[#ditto] on the Aires set, probably the nicest for the Tamiya 1/48 P-51B. True Details made one that wasn’t as nice, but a little less expensive. Available from Squadron.
i think the cool part about aires pits is that they mix in the right amount of PE parts to compliment the well molded resin parts. molded in seat belts are always a pain to pick out with a brush but aires includes a PE seat belt that you can attach after painting them. i haven’t assembled a P-51B but i have assembled and am assembling a P-51D and have used a true details, aires, and black box pit set for the tamiya P-51D and my favorite pit was the aires set, then true details, with black box coming in last but still a nice resin set. with all three you’ll have to do some sanding away of certain kit parts and modifying on the kit to get the pit in place. the only draw back in my opinion to the aires set is that the instrument panel, “dash” for lack of a better term, and gun sight are all one resin piece which is a little tricky to place properly. you have to cut out the kit dash board and then align the resin part to sit correctly in the floor of the pit and the dash area as well. later.
Thanks for the help everbody keep it coming.

I asked for the Verlinden P-51B for a Tamiya 1/48 kit, lets see how it looks like…
