Im building Tamiya’s P-51 B with a NMF. I am trying an Alclad II finish for the first time. This stuff is very realistic. What is the proper technique for applying the decals. Do I need a gloss coat as in other finishes or can I attach the decals right to the Alclad finish? The decals are from Superscale. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Joe
The Alclad II will give you a very smooth surface (unlike my Tamiya acrylics[}:)]). Just apply the decals directly and for added longevity I usually apply Future over them.
Hope this helps!
Alclad’s site also lists that you can use decal setting solutions with the non shiny colors like Aluminum, white aluminum, duraluminium etc … just not with chrome and polished aluminum…
I built this Tamiya P-51B using alclad and superscle decals no clearcoat before or after the decals.
