P-51 aftermarket seat

Hi gang,

Does anyone have any idea where I can get a 1/32 P-51D aftermarket seat? I know I can get the resin update sets from True Details and others but I just don’t feel like spending more on a cockpit than I paid for the entire kit (Hasegawa’s 1/32 P-51D). That’s why I’m trying to just get the seat only. I know of the kit’s shortcomings and I can deal with, overlook or work my way around most of them. But the seat is (for me anyway) a noticeable part of the cockpit and the one in the kit is quite wrong. Worse comes to worse, I can just add the pilot to hide it but I sort of wanted to have the cockpit opened for all to see. I’m already scratchbuilding the gun bays with plastic sheet stock and wiring. But the pilot’s seat is one part where my skills are lacking in the scratchbuilding area. Any thoughts or suggestions?

What about using some sort of epoxy compound that I could form and sculpt over the existing seat? I was thinking I could use the existing kit’s seat as the starting point and then sculpt the rest over it. If I were to go that route, what should I look for in terms of the sculpting compound?
