P-47D, 201st Fighter Squadron "Aztec Eagles" . .

Finished! A Hasegawa 1/48 P-47D of the *Escuadrón Aéreo de Pelea 201, “*Aztec Eagles.” They were attached to the 58th Fighter Group during the liberation of Luzon, Philippines, 1944-45.

The model is overall Alclad Aluminum. The unit marking are Tamiya Rubber Black and Mr Color Yellow. The nose is painted Mr Color Off White and the red stripe is Tamiya Gloss Red. I cut the mask for the nose art using my Silhouette Portrait vinyl cutter. Panel lines are highlighted with Tamiya Black Panel Liner. Decals are from Aztec Models in Mexico. The U.S. insignia are kit decals, just a little out of register, but usable. The whole build is sealed with Alclad Semi Matte varnish. After two weeks it’s still tacky.

Thank you all for your comments. Since relocating to Panama a couple of years ago, I thought it would be appropriate to build some airplanes that served in Latin American air forces.

Beautiful! I’ve been planning to build one of those Jugs myself one day. Have everything needed… just haven’t gotten around to it. Yours is truly top notch work!

Thank you, Stik. The build took a while to paint, but it was interesting and fun.
