P-47 propeller Hamilton Standard vs. Curtiss Electric

Hello,

I’m working on a Tamiya 1/48 P-47D bubble top kit right now and searching around to buy some aftermarket decals with nose art. I notice that most of the decals out there are P-47D’s with the Curtiss Electric props on them and I have only found one or two that are for aircraft with the Hamilton Standard prop.

As I noticed this trend I have been looking for information about the use of the two different propellers and can’t find the rhyme or reason behind it. Does anyone know, or can point me to some articles that talk about this? The kit notes state aircraft with the Curtiss prop usually only carried 6 guns to save weight and often did not carry underwing stores, but I’m not really sure I believe that, as it seems counter productive to the war effort.

Thank you in advance for any help or information.
