p-40F/L colors?

I’m building Navair’s P-40F as a -L, and I’m using aftermarket decals. The decal instructions show one of the options as having OD on the sides, while the other option is camouflaged, however, the instructions say to paint both a/c’s uppersurfaces in camo. the option I want to do is the OD one, which is from the “checkertail clan”. should I paint it like the instructions, or just do overall OD uppers?

What group/sqn/aircraft are you modeling? I’ll look and see if I have a reference photo.

I have the Osprey publications for MTO P-40 It shows several checker tail planes in the color profile. It looks like the used the L and F models. Some are two tone camo some are olive drab one even is shown in a dark green overall. What are the sradron markings on the fusalage? If it is covered I can scan it and post it here for you.

sorry, I should’ve posted that earlier. it’s from the 325th FG, with the number 40 on the fuselage, and it’s named “trixie”

Here is the color plate for Trixie. It looks to be overall dark green and grey.

‘Trixie’ was more than likely painted in the standard Olive Drab over Neutral Grey, somewhat of a rarity for an MTO P-40. Note the homemade Napalm bomb in the picture.
