P-40B Monogram 1/48 scale

I needed a simple fun build after the twin Black Widow builds and this is just what the Doctor ordered! I built it oob except for the scratched gun sights and a Pilot pilfered from another kit.

shot of the innards before it was buttoned up

Nice fit no filler needed, just a quick preshade and off to the cammo

quick little fun relaxing build

thanks for looking,cheers Trey

Great looking P-40!!!

Nice work Trey! I’m surprised by the fit. Did you drill out the exhaust? BTW what are you using for gloss and flat coats these days?

Thanks Scorp!

Nathan thanks, yes drilled the exhausts a bit and used testors dullcote thru the a/b on this one. For gloss I’ve been using really thinned down 2part urethane.

Love the photos…what did you do…throw it and snap a couple pics? LOL…

How was the kit? Did it fight, or is it one of the gentler ones?

Very nice Trey. So the Monogram P-40 is an easy build? I have one so I may give it a try.

Joe

Jimmy D thanks, yea when you throw them for pics just make sure you’ve set the shutter speed correctly;) The kit was super gentle ,especially after coming off those ill fitting Widows! The decals even went down good with a dose of micro-sol.

Joe appreciate that, yes it really did fit together nicely. The only spot that gave a little trouble was the front cowl ring . It just takes a little care lining things up because of the gun ports ,intake scoop at the top and the radiator intake at the bottom. For a kit that can be had for under 15 bucks its a good value.

Trey, I don’t think your throwing arm is that good. I think you may have shot those with the airplane sitting above on a glass pane! To good effect! I like that kit, too.

Thanks John, and you’re right about the arm;)

Beautifully done! This is one of my favorite kits. What kind of work did you have to do to get the B-24/B-26 pilot to fit this cockpit?

Very true! Sometimes the fuselage halves are “pinched” a little at that seam. I find a spacer made of a thick piece of sprue, or even a piece of dowel, can help with the fit.

Baron thanks for the tip about the fuse halve fit! For the Pilot it was a quick session with the razor saw removing the clip board, admit that its not pretty but for a closed office it works.

I was wondering the exact same thing.

I really like the last pic with the glare on the canopy.

Nicely done. Great photography.

Agreed. Nice job. I’ve been thinking of picking up one of these kits.

Nice job!

Thanks for the kind words Fellas! Just to clear things up ,for the pics I hung it with fishing line then photoshopped the line out.Cheers Trey
