Storage isn’t so much the issue as the question of space for displaying your finished work [;)] I could probably build everything in my stash, before I die, but I don’t have any display space. That’s what drives my thoughts about paring down the stash.
I have exactly 131 kits, mostly 1/35 armor plus aftermarket items. It is all on an Excel spreadsheet which I can print of 4 pages (double-sided). I take this with me to any shows to avoid un-intended duplication. (And even this doesn’t work sometimes especially if I forget to bring my list!)
I also have a list reference books.
I have recently purchased a deceased club member’s stash and have been selling that off slowly. I have that on Excel spreadsheet. I have been able (for the most part) to keep from having his kits from migrating over to my ‘stash’.
Wayne and PJ, I love your stashes man! My wife would have a COW! I told her I was storing up for retirement when I can’t afford it…she didn’t buy it.
I keep my list on Scalemates, when I remember to log them.

Two questions for guys using excel. Do you also list your aftermarket items and decals? On the decals how much detail do you put on the list? ie just sheet number and name or in more detail. Thanks John
Yes, I list the after market items (barrels, tracks, PE,etc). I don’t have a lot of aftermarket decal sheets as this time but I list the few that I have I by description including scale, country appropriate for, brand name and mfg part number if available.
My system is not perfect especially if I have my eye on something and I don’t check my spreadsheet. I now am the proud owner of two resin aftermarket cockpit sets for 1/32 Trumpeter F-105D. Duhhh!!!
I don’t use Excel, but i do use Word doc’s, and i also list the product code for any AM parts including dcals. But in the colum with the name of the aircrfat i wil also list the unit if possable and what code it will carry.

Good eye Winter! It’s a Ridley X Night and a Jamis Nova Pro in the pic. I live in So Cal so the cross scene isn’t big but I think it’s a great sport. No mud or snow however!
The other two bits of wheels on the left are a 89’ Eddy Merckx Corsa Extra and a 97’ Moser Leader AX. Last steel frame road in the European pro peloton. Eddy Merckx is my hero.
Nice stash Waynec, I would almost cough a lung for the 1/24 Simba fire apparatus. My friend told me just today I could start my own hobby shop, my stash almost fills a 4X8 storage unit and a couple dozen more in nooks and crannies of our house. Just guessing 250-275 total, split 50/50 armor and aircraft.a smattering of ships and a couple civilian big rigs. More when Dragon releases the Patriot / HMMET and Meng or Trumpeter drop the Smerch.
I use to organize the stash by manufacturer followed by country then by vehicle type and then vehicle sub model/ variant . After awhile with every new purchase (usually large to small lots) everything would have to be shifted to the right, this affected the whole stash and took some time to correct. I stopped doing it recently so now things are a bit misplaced and unorganized. I will have to get back on it before things get really out of a hand. I don’t have a tally of all the kits but I have to admitt I have a few [:D].
