Where abouts in the Falls? I grew up in the Falls and my second home was Ace Hobby shop on Pierce Ave and then Nia Street.
Now living in N. Tonawanda
Happy Modeling,

Impressive looking detail sets. The deck looks particularly nice. The photo etch may challenge your eye site and dexterity but I believe it is absolutely essential at smaller scales. Looking forward to seeing your progress on the build.
That deck and accompanying photo etch set look great - will help you take that kit to the next level.
Caved and bought this beautiful bird from Brookhurst today! Went in for maybe an E-3G, but came out with something even better! Only 39 bucks too, which is an absolutely criminal steal for this kit in the states.
Ok…
Put on all those doors and, make sure none of them are at the same degree of “open”.
And explain to the ophthalmologist why you went blind…without saying “I was going to stop before I went blind” …

Been working on my PBY 1/72 scale PE parts. This should give me some practice for what’s to come. Between the cockpit, .50 Caliber parts its pretty scary.
I have a variety of plastic and brass round, flat, and square solid and tube stock.
The different materials were purchased some 20 + years ago before my EX decided WE shouldn’t build models.
The stock parts allow me to make parts that have been lost with a minimum of heartburn and replace plastic parts like tiny gun tubes with mold seams that are rife with flash.
Sometimes you just weigh the trouble of removing mold parting lines with just cutting some tube stock.
My neighbor was cleaning out the garage. I noticed a bunch of models. They asked if I knew anyone interested in these models because I’d prefer if they went to them instead of the trash.
I said I’ll take them.
Neighbor: You build models?
Yes, almost everyday.
Neighbor: I didn’t know anyone built models anymore.
I’ll start with these two.
Started and probably not complete but that’s cool. Plenty of parts.
Out of the bags and started cleaning up but doesn’t look started yet.
I gotta get out more! I almost never encounter sweet scores such as this. Really nice…I’m jealous!
It was pure luck. Just good neighbors looking out for each other ![]()
I ordered this fueler truck for the 48in48 build, but I forgot that USPS Priority is no longer a 2-day service (
) so it showed up a few days late. I am considering pairing it with my Hurricane, on a basic grassy RAF aifield base, but I’m still on the fence. It’s a neat little kit for not much money though.
This one is the Panzer IV I settled on for a future Finnish armor build. The Finns ordered 40 Panzer IV Ausf Js from Germany toward the end of the war, but after only 15 were delivered, shipments were interrupted by the end of hostilities between Finland and the USSR. They got them operational in time for the Lapland War with the Nazis, but none of them ever saw combat as far as we know. They stayed in service through the 60s and many were used as target hulks.
Anyway, research suggests that this Border Models kit is about the best available early J that still retains a lot of earlier features, like the ones Finland had. Not sure what I’ll do with the railcar, as the Finnish Panzers arrived by boat. ![]()
Woah, nice build! That railcar does look good.
More from my neighbor’s garage.
I knew with certainty that he was a model builder when I saw these boxes:
I am super-excited to get a Kazuhisa Kondo Zeta Gundam, even though it is a recast. The hobby scene was very different than today’s instant gratification market, and as such, I was unable to get to Japan to pick up an original copy of this really cool kit.

The 1990s was an amazing time for Japanese resin garage kits, and so many escaped my grasp. So I have to give a nod to the recasters even though I have some misgivings regarding the ethics of replicating someone else’s work.
With Gundam becoming mainstream here in the US, I hope to one day see an anime based on Kazuhisa Kondo’s works. Bandai seems to be struggling to come up with new shows that are not clones of older ones, so why not try something based on the grittier, dustier, grimier worlds of artists like Kondo, Kobayashi, and Izubuchi?
As an avid Zeta fan, I cannot wait to see this one built & painted up!
Just got it in the mail today. Might start on it tomorrow if possible. Got it on sale from Squadron for almost $13. Not bad.
That looks like a fun build. Something completely different.
