Eduard’s A6M2 Zero Tora Tora Tora edition. This gives me the opportunity to build actual Pearl Harbor Zero’s as opposed to the A6M5’s that represent all the Zero’s I have built in recent years.
Had my eye on this on an American online store (Monsters In Motion) for quite a while now, but was hesitant to order it because of high shipping costs lately. Found it in my home country (Canada) upon joining Scalemates. Bam!
I’m not an aircraft guy. This purchase is purely based on nostalgia. Jonny Quest was far and away my favourite cartoon back in the day. The original '64-'65 series, not the '80s and '90s sequels.
Looks like an easy build. Might have to do this one soon. Or, at least rip it open…ya, that’s it.
Picked up for a steal from KingKit, this second-hand Tamiya 1/35 Panzer II Ausf F will be my paint mule. Hull is partially assembled but all components appear to be present!
I saw this kit in the estate section of my local hobby shop. Almost bought it for nostalgia purposes too but decided not to as my stash is already too big and I was picking up the Italeri Pegasus Bridge Battle Set to build a diorama of that event having visited the site back in October 2025 after visiting Juno Beach.
I didn’t buy anything, though I tried really hard. I went in looking for the 1/350th scale wasp that I thought they had, but it was gone after sitting these on the shelves for years.
In the estate section, these were a couple of kits that the armor guys here might have an opinion about. An atomic artillery gun that looks like it was from the 60s but was in perfect condition and a few other things that seemed very rare but might not be.ive never heard of Renwal.
I guess the widow called the shop and wanted to do something with these kits. Makes me sad and also motivated to not leave a huge stash behind for my family.
Renwal was a classic 1960s model company. I recall them issuing a few nuclear sub models back then that had full interiors and a hinged hull that allowed you to lower one side to see the interior.
I have the same kit and have been looking for a good set of 3D files to build the LUT to display the kit. I found a great company on Etsy for my 1/144 shuttle who have the complete tower and Crawler for the Shuttle.
I won this at last week’s IPMS Phoenix monthly raffle during the meeting.
It looks to be a clone of the old Tamiya kit, which is one of the lesser regarded 1/48 A-10 kits. And this one has some soft detailing in some areas, particularly the gun. But 3D stuff to the rescue! I have already found some free files online to print up a replacement gun, as well as the engine fans, and a HUD frame.
