I’ve also purchased the H-o 229 Pilot figure kit. I thought it was Ma.K until I actually looked it up
Sushi. ![]()
Oh, and model kit related stuff.
Haha not even dry sushi in a sealed cup that you just add water ![]()
I was gifted this Airfix Vintage Classic Panther some time ago and every kit review despaired at the quality and accuracy of the rubber track supplied. Inspecting the box contents I was inclined to agree…
My tanks to date have all been buttoned up, so I wanted to do a little diorama bringing some tank crew and infantry to the party - possibly setting up an ambush in the Normandy Bocage, and not replicating what appears to be a war crime on the box art taking place in North Africa where Panther was never deployed…
Introducing today’s delivery:
- Airfix Vintage Classic WWII German Infantry
- Mironious 3D Printed Tank Crew Busts
- FC Model Trend 3D Printed Track
The detail on the crew print is phenomenal, and will potentially put the Airfix infantry to shame, but my figure painting skill will probably dictate that outcome. These are a lot finer than the 40K Guardsmen I used to paint…
Although they get mixed reviews on quality and customer service, these FC Model Trend tracks are the only aftermarket Panther tracks at 1:76 scale. I’m slightly annoyed that the outward facing side is the side carrying the scaffolding, and therefore subject to the most side cutter work. At the end of the day though I can’t imagine it will be any worse to work with than the Airfix OOB rubber…
I’ve been wanting one of these for most of a year, once I realized I could create my own masks.
I’ve had issues with the aftermarket yellow stripe decals on the Sabre (they were thick but at the same time brittle). So they sat on top of all the panel line details and when I tried to cut the line in, they chipped and cracked ruining the decal and really frustrating me.
I rationalized that I needed a better solution, and it is my birthday next week sooo… I’m removing the offending decals (what a pain) and will be learning how to make my own masks and painting them.
Hmm, my brother in law has one of those… I see an exchange of beer for cricutting in my future
A good friend of mine has one. He made masking stencils for an entire model. It’s a game changer.
My wife does scrap booking and I’ve been “hoping” that she gets one of these for her hobby.
Great! That is what I’m hoping for. Full report coming!
@MR_TOM_SCHRY sounds like a great birthday present for you to get her…
Another kit arrived last night as a result of a build thread I looked at here. Maybe I should cease looking at build threads …
I saw this for a good price on eBay. As it turned out, the kit was in Huntsville, Texas - roughly an hour and a half from me here on the far west side of Houston. I remember seeing this kit in a hobby shop way back in the 90s after I returned to the hobby. The box art was (and remains) awesome, but being unfamiliar with the aircraft, I never found much interest in actually building it. That will soon change.
Ugh, okay so the good news is that I can take back my comments about the scaffolding occupying the outer face of the print of my 3D Tracks. The bad news is that the drive sprockets look incomplete because the print was incomplete. Oh well, back to the supplier I guess…
What a bummer. Hope they make it right in a timely fashion for ya Darren.
Never heard of that aircraft until now. IT sure does look like a protype of the MIG-15.
Interesting subject.
Looking forward to seeing your progress.
Very interested in how that sander works.
Its a forward and back style sander. Have a side to side one so have been looking for one like this for a while.
I’ve been very curious about them, reviews have been mixed. What is your experience?
The one I have prior to getting this one I have been nothing but happy with. If I had to nitpick the cord could be a little longer.
That ar-234c is an aircraft I had never heard of until today, I had to look it up. Only 19 were built, wow!
It’s amazing to me that the modeling world produced that model when most seem to only want create the 100th version 109, spits, and 190s. I’m impressed and look forward to seeing it.
