Our Latest Acquisitions Since 2017

Yes. I suspect it is to give the tracks some element of a suspension to help navigate rough terrain. I also suspect the engineers did not want or were directed not to make major modifications to the Kubelwagen Type 82 body. Apparently even the skis on the front wheels were added only after the engineers discovered the wheels would sink in the snow and make the vehicle unsteerable.

Found something in Japan this morning that I had not seen before. I figured (no pun intended) to grab a couple and see how they were.

Front and back of both boxes.

Unfortunately I had left my phone in the hotel and didn’t have any way to translate. I thought it said 8 figures plus on mystery figure…..

Upon opening I found these.

Figures look good, but paint, especially the walking figure, leaves a bit to be desired. Price wasn’t terrible for a single figure, preI’m disappointed that it’s randomly boxed, as there are a few really good poses. They might be a partial solution to someone who wants some figures, but can’t paint them.

I’ll probably grab a few more next week when I go back, but will most likely open them at the counter and keep buying until I get the ones I really want.

Edit- Just looked these up, apparently they are prepainted Dragon figures, originally released in the early 2000’s. Looks like new production as the packaging and display are different than on original release.

Check them closely, the last set I got from them weren’t close to being round, though in your photo at least, they look okay.

This came yesterday. It may move to the top of the list…

Good hauls @Frozin and @dadoffour Eric. Haven’t seen those figures on the market yet was a little surprised at the thought of them being pre-painted Dragon figures.

I’ve never seen the Pro Modeler version of a Phantom yet. I wonder if that’s a team up with Hasegawa?

According to scale mates, it is.

Nice! Love me a nice phantom!

There is something about the Phantom that just screams menace. This is the bully in the lunch room and he’s after your dessert.

I was wondering the same thing. Easy tell is it the fuselage is split in half down the middle or if it’s one piece attached to the wings.

Not to be outdone here @keavdog. I had my eyes on these for a while, and was considering getting a few individual markers to try them out, buy you inspired me to say “What the heck” and get the entire set.

I love those. I have 4-5 of them.

The old US Post Office statement - Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds - could not prevent the USPS from delivering this to me today.

This is my second Wingsy Kits acquisition. The box art is appealing but will be challenging to paint.

I have two more kits arriving in a few days - another Japanese aircraft and a German Luft 46 aircraft.

Very nice! I have a thing for fixed landing gear planes. Some late war Sonia’s were painted blue - like on the old Nichimo kit boxart. Pretty cool. I’ve never done a Wingsy kit - are they nice?

They look good in the box. Similar look of plastic as a Dora Models kit if you’ve built one of those. This one includes a mask set and a PE fret, and both that I have include mounting pins.

Ha ha, SprueOne, ya gotta love those wacky “slice of life” Hasegawa kits!

When I visited Japan in the 1990s I was astonished what their vending machines sold. I recall seeing stuff like manga, pressed shirts and socks, and big bottles of sake! In the alleyways of 1990s Kyoto I also spied vending machines that sold “adult” items ranging from magazines to videotapes, to all manner of “accessories”.

I got this unexpected delivery at my office this past Saturday. I guess it pays to work on weekends sometimes!

The Bellvine is a fixed-pose model, but the detail on the thing is gorgeous! I feel it is like a Japanese robot model for “adults.”. No putting it in a super fighting pose and running around the living room yelling “pew-pew!”

Oh! I love the dunbine designs! They’re so unique and buglike! Can’t wait to see your build thread for that one!

Yeah, that Max Factory kit is super-deluxe-gorgeous! They have improved the construction method compared to the Sirbine, allowing for modular construction. The Sirbine’s one piece “hat rack” frame needs to be sectioned up to allow for painting the inner detail.

The Bellvine’s colors are dizzying. I will try my best to replicate them!

Interesting indeed. Was there anything that you noticed and maybe surprised that was NOT sold in vending machines?
