Greysnake: Congrads on really nice haul there, I built the winter version Type 74 on here a few years ago. Typical Tamiya quality even though it’s a older kit the fit and detail is good. And it’s interesting in something you don’t see that often.
Joe: Congrads there too! Love that IJN Yamato and cool looking compressor!
I went back to the Atlantic Canadian Aviation Museum today and picked up a couple old kits from there gift shop, including a 1/48 scale Accurate Miniatures Gulfhawk II, a 1/72 scale Ioneer 2 Foker D-XXI, a 1/72 scale MPC/Airfix Boeing Seaknight, a 1/72 scale bagged NOVO/FROG Fairey Gannet, and a bagged 1/48 scale Monogram T-28B Trojan (that I haven’t checked to see if its complete, but which should be useful for scratchbuilding or ktbashing) .
I also saw an old FROG Battle Class Destroyer and an Airfix HMS Fearless that I was interested in, but decided to hold off on, for now.
Got this Alpine Michael Wittmann figure for my Dragon Tiger I’m building.
The Dragon kit came with a figure that is poor to put it politely when compared to the Alpine one. Not to mention the Dragon figures field cap wasn’t completely molded.
2 more additions. This first one i knew nothing about until it showed up on Hannants new releases list in early August. It sold out very fast as did the other UK suppliers, so i picked up up on e-bay.
It comes with 2 sets of helmits and torso’s so you can build pre or post 2010. At first i thought i would take the easy route and do the older 2 colour desert DPM. But then i saw the L129A1 rifle which only entered service in late 2010, several months after the new MTP camo uniform was issued to troops going to Afghan. So i’ll be trying my hand at that.
And from the modern British army to its origins. This bust is from Sarnia Minitures, a small company based on Guernsey in the Channel Islands. I’ll be doing this for my British Army GB next year and building him as a soldier of the New Model Army.
I will be leaving Canada in as few weeks so I went out and picked up a few more kits at the local museum gift shop. Fortunately for me all the ones I picked up today were 20% off [:)]
