silver outline
What, the Y or the unit emblem? I like the idea of the Y** markings.
For the bear. It translates into sitting black toy bear. Bodies and members-measured. silver borders.
Loosely a figure of a black toy bear with a silver outline measured to fit.
??? I don’t follow you…what are you talking about?
Sorry,
I’m referring to the description of the bear insignia as posted by 9 toe tanker. My german is very rusty, Grandma Schulz passed on many years ago, and mom rarely spoke german after that.
according to the Dewey book, Carius blew up the last 6 - 2/512 Jagdtigers around the outskirts of Ergste on 15 April and as the book says “assembled for the last time and goodbyes were said”. The 3 surrendered in Iserlohn square were 1/512 (X numbered, one identified as X1) vehicles commanded by Ernst. I’ll keep looking but I’ve seen a picture of a “Y” coded one somewhere but don’t know the details. There’s a statement that says they were not marked, but the log refers each tank by tactical numbers . . .
It also says that Carias stated that no photographic equipment was available to 2/512, and that the allies took all personal cameras off the POW’s. Also said no contact was made with Ernst during his time with 512.
this should make it clear as as a mud puddle . .
further back into early March 1945, the “Y” marking on a jagdtiger blown up in Paderborn from this book indicates that it is from the 3/512 . . . .the confusion continues . .
