I recently bought Soviet WWII sniper set by Zvezda. I was some what impressed by them. What I am wondering now is how are their armor kits? I would like to build some more Russian WWII armor especially light tanks.

Zvezda has some decent kits, but they also rebox a lot of Italeri and lately Dragon kits. Modern Soviet armor is 1990s era Dragon kits. German WW2 armor is Italeri. Russian WW2 armor is usually original.
They’ve also reboxed the ancient Peerless Max M3A1 White Scout car.

Reboxes have their uses, sometimes it allows an OOP kit to be on the market without paying collector’s prices. Sometimes changes were made to the molds to make them slightly different. In case of the Zvezda reboxes of Dragon kits, they sometimes added one piece vinyl tracks to replace the link & length tracks Dragon was infamous for. This could be a plus or minus depending on your preferences though.
[dto:] Zvezda has some great kits at good prices. Some are re-boxes but some are their own molds and their quite nice.[Y] Though long story short, they can all be made in top-notch builds except they will take some TLC.
Hey that M3-Scout car isn’t that bad of a kit…cough okay it may need a complete overhaul, but I managed to pull it off. Plus it’s the only game in town for an M-3 Scout car.
Some of their recent stuff is excellent. At the moment I’m doing a review build of their Mercedes L4500R Maultier half-track. for a UK-based modelling magazine. The level of detail and accuracy is as good as Tamiya, the quality of moulding better, and in the UK, the kit retails for half the price that Big T would charge for a similar kit.
A ot of their older stuff is quite good, too. Even the really old stuff has its uses - being cheap, they’re always good for practicing finishing techniques.
