There has been some good respose to the idea of the OEF GB… This is what I have in mind so far…Any other ideas/suggestions would be greatly appreciated…
Start date of July 11th and an end of September 11th
Any vehicle in any scale as long as it was used during OEF
Any after market PE sets welcome and encouraged
Alone or in diorama/with other vehicles ok
And last but not least have fun with the build[:D]
Hey Tom,
So I take it that my latest build of a Humvee wont count then[:(][;)]. Just kidding!! Ok so I see a Bradley in my horizon!!
Looking forward to the build.
Flaps up, Mike
Only Hueays and Cobras would have to be USMC birds.
Nope, no Brads in Afghanistan. It is Light Fighter country there. No armored vehicles. No Strykers either, only deployed Strykers are with 25 ID in Iraq. Not sure on the LAVs, but I think the Marines took some to Afghanistan. Lots of HMMWVs too.
Yeah, I’d only make something with USMC markings[:D] So no hooks or hawks for me…this time
There are a few Strykers rolling around here, I’ve seen them with Canadian and German markings here at BAF on occasion, usually parked in the exchange lot[}:)]
I don’t think anything heavier than an LAV has come ashore as far as USMC rolling stock. Looks like the tankers got left out of this one…
If ya want to do a wingy thing that is ok…[xx(][:p] As long as it saw action in OEF…i saw a few German Marked Strykers rolling about the countryside a time or two… After reading
I thought my mind might have been playing tricks on me[X-)][X-)] Nice to know that I wasn’t the only one to see 'em…
If the vehicles you see are marked in other than US Markings, they are not Strykers. Only US Army uses the Stryker. There are other LAV varients used by Canada and Germany, but these are not Stryker vehicles.
I think Gino is right. If you have Jane’s Tanks & combat vehicles recognition guide, check 8x8 vehicles & you will see that the Stryker vehicles are used by the Canadians as LAV III & these are built by the Diesel Division of General Motors of Canada. These same LAV III are built for the US Army & Marines & are called Stryker.
Tempting, Tempting-----sorry, I will only check up on how you guys are doing–I have a major project, that i will be doing for a while. Somalia 1993, October 3-4. started working with figs-so I might only come to see what humvees are doin here.
Hmmm…you may be right, but they sure LOOKED like Strykers[:D][:D] Anywho, there isn’t a kit of those out yet.
Here’s a quick list of what I’ve seen while in country:
Blackhawk Chinook Super Stallion
Huey Cobra Apache
C-17 A-10 C-130
Humvee (more variants than you can shake an AK at)
Land Rovers from various countries
All Army medium and heavy trucks (don’t know their name off hand)
MTVRs (USMC 7 ton truck)
The UAE has some cool armored cars here, I don’t know the designation for those, either[:(]
Out around here I’ve seen T-55s, BMPs BTRs and even a couple Hinds and MIGs in various states of decay…
Hey all,
Since there was no Brads in Afghanistan, I would say that it be safe to say that they operated em in Iraq right? I have ref pix of them over in the big sand box but I want to make sure of the correct location.
If this is true, what units used them?
Sorry I just came back from vaca, went to Cali so its been awhile. Man two weeks sure can go by fast. Talk about Hobby $hop$[:p][;)]
I sure do have a lot of catch up to do…!! Thanks for the help fellas.
