Since the thread has somewhat expanded to include close relatives…
Dad was in the Navy for a short while and did a midshipman cruise aboard USS Missouri. He hated the rigourous spit & polish decorum of the Navy and somehow managed a transfer into the Army, where he flew choppers and light obeservation aircraft. He just missed going to Korea, although had it continued for much longer, his unit probably would have been deployed.
My wife did a tour in the Navy, having enlisted toward the end of Vietnam.
Myself, I’m a government worker, although not military. To those of you here who are and keep (or have kept) the USA and the world safe and sound, my sincerest thank you.

I’m a Corporal in the United States Marine Corps. I work on CH-53E helicopters. Right now I’m overseas, but not in that place that makes the nightly news. However, I have been there. I have a little model building pack-up stashed away, and I’m waiting for the right time and place to bust it out. Soon, I’ll be building in a nice Air Conditioned tent in my off time… hopefully.
Great informative posts. Thanks to everyone who replied.
Strathcona, if someone gives you a tank, will you tell them about me too?

Hello all.
US Army 1987-1991. Was a 92B (Medical Lab Technician) in Germany. If you had an MRE, boxed milk, or bottled water during Desert Storm; I tested it first.

Ex (As of 30 March this year) Sgt Royal Air Force Avionics, In my time I have worked on, Marine Craft, Phantom, All Tornado Variants, Harrier GR 9, Sea Harrier, Jaguar, Dominie, Jetstream, Sea King, Islander, Tucano, Hawk, Lancaster and Spitfire. I know this is an armour forum, Just because I work on aircraft doesn’t mean I have to build them, aircraft are so boring to model.
