Open doors for 1:72 B17 "Memphis Belle"

Hi, I’m building a Revell 1:72 Memphis Belle and I want it to have its doors partially open, so I cut them out and was planning to glue them at a 45-degree angle. If anyone has experience doing this and has some advice, it would be appreciated. Part of the reason I’m doing this is to install LEDs along the entire length of the fuselage.

Is this going to be a bare metal finish? If not, you’ll want to paint in some light blocking so the leds dont bleed through the fuselage. Silver or black have worked the best for me.
