Hey guys (and Girls),
Here is project no.2 for the AAA GB.
and for those interested in the process I use for the weathering, it starts with the painting.
1st, start with a dark grey color (anything dark will do “think about the scale on steel”).
2nd, apply the appropreate “primer” color.
More to come.
Tom
Not a subject you see get built up very often, looking forward to seeing more on this one.
Hi-
The Maultier is, IMHO the coolest looking WWII German half-track of 'em all. And considering how many different types & sizes they used, that’s saying something.
Looks good so far, and Keep The Pictures Coming! Please![#toast ]
Good Luck and keep your stick on the ice,
-Ray
Wild Bill & Ray,
Thanks for chiming in!
I decided to add some PE to this build.
Slow progress but the cab is close.
Here are a few pictures:
Enjoy,
Tom
PANZERJAGER,
Cool build! I have a couple of these in the stash so I will be taking notes with interest.
Tom,
How are you going to paint (Airbrush/Brush) the gun and gear shifts in the cab? Are these going to be removed and painted and then refitted into position?
I have always wondered how you guys do this.
Looking real nice so far. Did the links come with extras? Seems to me there should be a subtle sag.
Looks real nice so far. Spindly looking vehicle though. Did these have a bad maintenance record by any chance?
Very cool! Like the painting so far- and good call on the PE, I like the rifle rack.
Can’t wait to see [:)]
IBuild148,
Thanks for chekin’ in,
As for the interior details as well as the mounted details, they usually get painted with artist oils.
When you work with oils over acrylic paint mistakes are easy to clean up.
Tigerman,
Thanks for stopping by.
As for the tracks, they are Modelkasten’s and yes they have extra links.
This was just a trial fit up, I will adjust for the final assembly.
Mark,
Thanks for looking in.
As for maint. issues, I couldn’t tell you.
I have the hood open so I can have a guy helping out the driver who “flooded” it, get it started.
Chris,
Thanks!
Hope to post more pictures soon.
Right now I am waiting for an order from Scale Hardware for some stainless steel .5mm screws to hold the door hinges.
Ya, you heared right, .5mm screws!

Bodge,
Thanks for lookin’ in!
Progress has been slow.
I have been using the dremel to currect the road wheels (what a pain in the a**!).
Here are some pictures;
More to come.
Tom
Wow! Those wheels look great, and the suspension looks real![tup]
Worth the work IMHO
Mark,
Thanks for the encouragement.
Whipping this “Mule” into shape!
Man this thing is crude!!!
Here are the road wheels after paint;
On to the cargo bed.
All of the fittings get replaced with PE, so I had to carve off the molded on ones.
Then I had to restore the “wood grain” texture.
On the inside, was a collection of ejector pin marks on all of the rivet strips.
So those needed to be replaced from scratch.
Here are a couple more views.
I will be taking a short break from this build for the “Weekend Madness GB”, but I will be back at it after the weekend.

What a pain havin to do those wheels, Do some of these manufacturers guess certain details or what? Lookin good though.[tup]
Tom,
Some of the hurdles are sounding painful. Way to keep on it. Not an attractive vehicle by any means but, it does have a lot of character
I’m looking forward to more updates on this one
Solid work!
Cheers
Dave
Nice work on the bed. It appears doog is not the only one sporting wood.[;)]
Hey thanks Wbill76, Bodge, Hughes2682 & Wing_nut for stopping by!
Been busy over in the “Weekend Madness GB”, so didn’t get anthing done on the mule yesterday.
Got some outside stuf to do today, but I’ll be back at it latter this afternoon.
It is an up hill battle!
But I’m in “granny gear” and runnin’ at red line!!!
Hope ta’ post more pics tonight.
Till then…
Tom
Slow progress, but I am getting to the PE on the cargo bed.
More latter
