online buying

I came across the online store Just Plane Hobbies this evening and, after a quick browse, thought they looked pretty decent. They seemed to have decent selection and probably average prices. Just wondering if anyone has ordered from them and if so how was your experience? Thanks in advance.

Chris

I’ve never ordered from them but I’ve seen them at a couple model shows here in the Pacific Northwest. I know that doesn’t help much.

I have ordered from them off ebay and they had some great service. I ordered some F-4 Seamless Suckers intakes and an F-104C/CJ cockpit from them and got it less than a week later. Good prices, too. I put them on my Fav’s list and won’t hesitate to order from them again. - Calvin

Browse http://www.Squardon.com and http://www.greatmodels.com and http://www.hannants.com and see what you think about them also - all good stores.

I bought a couple of items from them off ebay & had no problems.

That oughta be www.hannants.co.uk Swanny - unless he’s making wooden kits! [;)]

I’ve used www.hobbylinc.com many times, getting good selection, great pricing and very good service.
Good Luck,

Never bought from them…but I did get from www.megahobby.com
and had a good experience…hope that helps you.[:)]

Off topic, folks, but my last 2 orders online (Best Buy, Amazon) -I was charged SALES TAX!!

Dan

I typically use either Rollmodels.com or Greatmodels.com. Both have huge selections, and good prices. No complaints about service from either! Frank

Great Models purports to have a huge selection, but an inordinate number of their items tend to be “Special Order”, i.e., “Out of Stock”, very hit-or-miss, often with very long waits for the item to become available, and no indication on the website as to how long the wait will be…I’ve ended up cancelling many of my orders because I easily found the item “In Stock” elsewhere. I personally like www.squadron.com and www.spruebrothers.com.

Anyone else encounter this problem with Great Models?

Generally with Great Models, I won’t actually order unless the item decsription specifically says “In Stock”. I’m not willing to wait months just to save 3 or 4 bucks.

I hear you, bstrump. I’m still waiting for a half dozen “in stock” canopies I ordered six weeks ago. (Great Models had no problem charging my credit card for the order right away though.) Once this order is filled, I’m ditching Great Models and sticking with e-hobbyland.com and squadron.com from now on.

Ditto on Roll Models. They have good prices and great service.

Regards,

Yes. You accurately stated they are hit or miss. I’ve had shipments arrive within 3 days, and some “out of stock” items take weeks to ship. When they have 50% off sales, you can’t beat the prices. Squadron is always on the ball

I have purchased items several times on ebay from JustPlaneHobbies and was satisfied with their service. I wouldn’t hesitate to do so again.
