One salty Tojo

My 1/48 Arii Ki-44 Tojo is coming along nicely. This is an exercise in salt chipping - I wanted to see just how far I could push it.

Mostly this was very easy to accomplish other than the yellow - real PIA there.
Then there was the clean up of the modeling desk - painted salt everywhere.

If you want more information on salt chipping it’s on my site under the “Tools and Tips” tab.

Wow, get that thing to Earl Scheib![:)] Great looking build.

lookin chipper mate.

Definitely a chip off the old block[;)]

Looking good.

Karl

Looking great Swanny! Might give that technique a go one day.

Bob

Looking very scruffy. Just keep chipping away at it till it’s done [:D].

So, d’ …ummm… salt worked out ok?

Lookin’ salty, Swanny!

I like the “Cabriolet” look it’s got right now!

Good heavens!! You sure thats not in for the natural metal group build??? Seriously, looking real good! [bow]

Cool! How many layers of paint did you apply over the base metal color? Anything special with the paint/thinner ratio? I ask, because I have had problems with heavy paint buildup along the edges of the salt.

Nice! Really Swanny, between the models you and Pix build, the rest of us have less and less to show off! [;)] Superb work, my friend! [:D]

Your kits never cease to amaze me, thanks for the peek and keep those tips coming.

Really cool look with all that chipping on the rivets and whatnot. What other weathering do you plan to do to it?
