I titled this diorama “Death Wagon”.
I read somewhere that in WW1 the Germans would sometime pay local Belgians to retrieve bodies after battles. I thought this would make an interesting diorama…
Scale - 1:35
Title: “Death Wagon”
Kits: Wagon & driver - Masterbox “Somewhere In Europe” #3538
Stalingrad Miniatures: sitting German soldier figure (modified to WW1)
Base scratch built. Harness scratch built.
Very poignant. Very well done.
WOW! Talk about taking your breath away and making you stop and think. This diorama just pulls at your heartstrings and really captures the horrendous nature of war. The thought that popped into my mind was Greek mythology and Charon, the ferryman, who rows the boat of souls across the River Styx. Your ground & water work really captures the look of “No Man’s Land”
This diorama would fit well if displayed at the MMSI Show in Chicago. The show is mostly geared towards figures and miniatures. But other models have been entered there too like tanks, aircraft, etc.
One thing that the MMSI Show tends to focus on is entries that tell a story or show a scene and what @creading has done has accomplished just that. Very well done.
This is a diorama that instantly gets your attention and make you think. Definitely unique, that’s for sure.
